How to Play: The way you play this game may vary based on what you need to achieve. It can be a two player game where students throw a die and must read each word as they progress. Any misread word means they go back to their original position. I've used it with a stopwatch and have graphed the children's improvement over several days. Many of the boys respond well to this. Extension: During Guided Reading search out more ir, er and ur or ay words and have the children substitute their words into the game template.
