Properties of a Cone
(write these up on card & display)

- A cone has two faces.
- One face is a 'sector' which is part of a circle.
- Which face is a curved surface?
- One face can be either a circle or an ellipse.
- The point at the top of the cone is called the vertex.
- The vertex is sometimes refered to as the apex.

A Little Something to Think About
(write these up on card & display)

- List 5 real world examples of cones other than an ice-cream cone and a wizard's hat :)
- Is it still a cone if the apex is not directly over the base? Why / Why not? How can you find out?
- An edge is where two faces meet... does this mean that a cone only has one edge?
