| In
Australia the disease Asbestosis is often in the News. Around the world diseases
like Mesothelioma and AIDS are of interest to governments, doctors, families,
drug companies and lawyers? Yes, lawyers!
Our
lives are filled with the names of many different
diseases but my experience shows that students can recite the names and pronounce
them in texts but are unaware of what the conditions really are, and often are
completely unaware of their human impact? Here is one task to address this. | |
Task
Choose
a disease or condition from the following list (or another you wish to research)
and create a mind map on it that will inform your classmates.
Include:
symptoms, when discovered, who discovered it, how was it discovered, how transmitted,
treatment, interesting facts. Just
a few possibilities - Rift Valley Fever, Glandular Fever, Tuberculosis, Ebolia,
AIDS, Cerebral Palsy, Hemophilia, malnutrition, malignant cancer, Hepatitis A
B & C, Bird Flu, Anthrax, Dementia, Pulmonary Hypertension, Breast Cancer,
